Our Curriculum

We use a multi-sensory approach to teach through dynamic, purposeful play that ensures mastery of material and love of learning. Our classrooms inspire independent learning with freedom of movement.

To ensure that we achieve the high standards we have set, YKOM follows the Benchmark Curriculum, which follows each domain of a child’s development. Each activity in which our students participate is carefully crafted in alignment with our interdisciplinary skills and inquiry-based learning environment. When we engage children, we are applying content and critical thinking skills.

Play skills are honed and developed as the children explore opportunities to expand schemas and imagination, while forming their very first friendships. A look into ourcarefully crafted classroom centers or our expansive front yard provides a glimpse into our consistent fine and gross motor development. Celebrations, like Parsha programs and Rosh Chodesh specials, incorporate unique thematic activities, which ultimately imbue each child with a deep love of Shabbos and holidays. Our students anticipate each new day of meaningful learning and discovery. By the time they have completed their preschool education, children are reading fluently in both Hebrew and English. They have developed a strong foundation in math, writing, kriah, and abstract thinking skills. They have explored science through programs like ABC Science and Science Lab, and they have begun to understand more advanced math principles through core standard aligned curriculum. Through programs likes Middah of the Month and Baki’Bivri, they are ignited with a passion for their yiddishkeit and our mesorah. They have established a sense of self, a deep sense of purpose, and are joyfully prepared for the next step in their education.

Bringing Learning To Life

Judaism comes alive for our youngest students through special events like our beekeeper visit for Rosh Hashana, annual Parshas Noach petting zoo, Chanukah concert and carnival, Preschool Challah Bake, and our very own matzah factory in advance of Pesach. Our children are exposed to culture on class trips like library visits, winter music and movement activities, and puppet shows. They discover animals, nutrition, and important life skills through educational trips to farms and apple orchards, and visits from experts such as firemen who teach about fire safety.

“I cannot believe how much my son is growing and learning! There’s no greater joy as a parent to see your child come home each day with a smile, always wanting to share what he learned that day.”

A Family Approach TO LEARNING

We are proud of our inclusive community of parents, united in their dedication to the educational growth, religious development, and overall well-being of their children. We regularly host family and communal gatherings like melaveh malkas, father-son learning breakfasts, PTA welcome breakfasts for mothers, and other events where parents get a closer look at the school and share a taste of the learning their children enjoy every day. These events help impress upon our students that their parents are active participants in their educational experiences. Parents are invited and encouraged to take part in the happenings of Yeshiva Ketana throughout the school year, whether that means arranging a bake sale, or joining a field trip.

Our Parents Are Our Best Partners

Our inclusive community is comprised of families who are passionate about building a strong foundation for their children’s lifetime of learning, commitment to Torah and middos tovos, and refined character. We regularly host communal events such as family barbecues, Mothers’ Nights Out, and Melaveh Malkas that give our parent body and faculty the opportunity to build relationships with each other and foster a strong cohesive feeling of family.

It’s important for people to know it’s a special place where everyone knows each other. It’s more of an inclusive family that always wants to expand and grow.”
